Tobacco kills more Minnesotans than alcohol, homicides, car accidents, AIDS, illegal drugs, and suicide combined. Raising the tobacco tax has proven to be effective in reducing tobacco addiction and tobacco related disease and death.
Raising the tobacco tax by at least $1.50 will save more than 47,000 Minnesota children from becoming addicted adults, help over 36,000 current Minnesota smokers to quit, and save at least 25,000 Minnesotans from premature smoking deaths.
Tobacco is still a serious problem in Minnesota, and a tobacco tax increase will only improve the health of our state. That is why we need you to: Tell your lawmakers to Choose Kids, Not Big Tobacco!
