Amelia Meier started this petition to Chiquita Banana and

Bananas are the most common fruit consumed in the United States, and yet none of them are grown within the country. The people in charge of growing them, not the big corporations, but the people in the fields need help. The banana farm workers, their families and anyone else who lives near the plantations are getting affected by the harmful pesticides and other agrochemicals being sprayed on the plantations. Children in Colombia and Ecuador are being born with defects that are linked to the pregnant mothers exposure to the chemicals. Additionally, once healthy adults experience headaches, stomach issues, depression and anxiety after being exposed to the chemicals. Men, who have worked in the field for at least 2 years, also experience sterility and therefore are infertile. Give these families justice! They work hard, put their lives at risk, and get very little money or help in return.
This is not a new phenomenon by any means, people who have worked in the banana industry (the banana republic) have suffered, even died, for years due to the mistreatment of the workers. Watch Banana Land for more information.
Muchas gracias para ayudarlos, ellos necesitan ayuda y protección. Thank you for signing my petition!
