Quail have great benefits in an urban/suburban setting including but not limited to: Sustainable living, egg production, pest control, educational opportunities for young and old alike, reduction of our carbon footprints, and general improvement in mood/happiness. They provide nutritious eggs that help maintin food stability and self sustainbility that is especially important during a global pandemic. Quail are not a replacement for chicken products and we encourage the purchase of local poultry in addition to the consumption of quail eggs. 

Quail make great pets. You can watch them rooting, dust bathing and cuddling for hours. They make FAR less noise than a barking dog or a lawn mower, and if their waste is dealt with regularly they do not make noxious odours.  Our family has found great joy and comfort in caring for our birds, they have brought much stress relief to us over the past tumultuous year.

By signing this petition, you’ll be telling the City of Chilliwack that we the people should be able to exercise our right to healthy food and obtain the therepeutic benefits of animal husbandry by raising our own flocks of happy quail.
