Bring Bengaluru Metro Services (BMRCL) under Essential Services Maintenance (ESMA)

BMRCL (Namma Metro) connects from Bengaluru East to west  covering 18.10 KM and Bengaluru North to south corridor (Green Line) covering 24.20 km. It has slowly become now the lifeline of Bengaluru considering the fact that nearly 3 Lakh people use it everyday for their livelihood.   Road transport is no longer a alternative since it has become nightmarish;travelling 2 km can take one hour beside being exposed to sever  Pollution levels . 

If Namma Metro services are affected, it affects the livelyhood of lakhs of families who are totally dependent on it for commute.  Delhi Metro is already under ESMA.

Hence the People of Bengaluru are vehemently appealing to Prime Minister, Chief  Minister of Karnataka, Honorable High  Court of Karnataka and other govt bodies both in Karnataka and at national level bring  BMRCL under  Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1968 immediately and put at rest all future risks related to Union related threats.  We have seen for nearly fifty years how Unions have destroy good profitable organisation to dust and have torn economy from every aspects.  The management of a organisation reserves right on how to operation and the optimization of internal and sub contracted manpower and the employees should not arm twist the management threatening such a critical service. 

The court on October 7, 2017 had stayed the state government's July 17, 2017 notification of bringing BMRCL services under the ESMA on a petition filed by the union, which has claimed that only the Union government, which governs the BMRCL, has the power to invoke ESMA
