In June of 2020,  New Paltz Officer Robert Sisco posted a video on social media, in uniform, while on the job, invalidating and degrading the trans community. He wrote a rap song with transphobic and violent lyrics and posted it for the public to hear. He has since been placed on paid administrative leave. He has not only offended the community in New Paltz and the great Hudson Valley but has exposed himself as a bigot indicating that he cannot protect and serve the whole community.  He compromises our safety.

Since this video has been brought to the public's attention, accusations have surfaced about Officer Sisco sexually harassing women on the job; one incident has been described that "putting on his lights and sirens to stop a girl taking a run to get her number,” and abusing his power.

This abuse of power cannot go without accountability.  This officer has overstepped his boundaries as a public servant by committing actions of violence and misogyny. That must be addressed.  These are messages and actions of hate and a stark abuse of power.  Keeping him in this position sends a message to other officers that this kind of behavior is not only supported but that they work in a place where they will be protected for abusing power and the public's faith.

The undersigned are calling on the Common Council in the Town of New Paltz to take action to release Officer Sisco from his position now!  He is not the type of public servant that we need.

In addition to our request for the Town of New Paltz to release Officer Sisco from his position, we, the undersigned, demand that paid administrative leave be suspended for all New Paltz Police Officers under investigation for the foreseeable future.
