Horse worked and beaten to death in Ephrata Pa by Amish owner

This petition had 21,337 supporters

Please help bring justice to this poor horse who had no voice and could not defend himself against two Amish men who over worked him in the heat and then beat him with no mercy. For many years the Amish in Lancaster county have been getting away with animal abuse while a blind eye is turned to it. This must stop and stop now. We need your help by signing and sharing this petition far and wide. The more people that know about it the more pressure to do something. Perhaps then no other animal will share the same horrendous fate. Please put yourself in place of the poor horse, the fear, the agony that were his last moments. When the horse couldn't go any farther the man was reported that he beat the horse with a whip in the face. Kicking it in the abdomen for not doing the work the Amish owner admitted was to much and the horse could not do.

We the people do diligently and passionately ask the Chief of Police, William "Bill" Harvey. of Ephrata Pa, the Mayor Ralph Mowen and
Governor Tom Wolf, the Governor of Pennsylvania, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Humane society of Pennsylvania to do a complete and intense investigation where no stone is left unturned.

For to many years the abuse of animals by the Amish in Lancaster county has gone unanswered for and unpunished. Under the guise of religion and their own self government the abuse of animals remains mostly unchallanged and unanswered for. This horse was worked to his death. Witnesses say the poor horse was beat to death because he could not carry the heavy load. Even the Amish man that owned the horse admitted the load was to heavy. I repeat this because it is important to stand up for this horse and feel his last moments in your own heart. This is a clear case of abuse that cannot be swept under the rug. Animal abuse is now a Federal crime that is tracked by the FBI. The FBI has classified animal abuse as a top-tier felony. We need to take this as serious as the FBI is now taking animal abuse.

As reported by WGAL news this horse had to be
euthanized after
officers tried to save horse. The local fire company was called to cool-off animal with water. If that is not a clear case of abuse nothing is. They used about 1,000 gallons of water to try to cool the horse off. The local SPCA told Channel 8 news that the offense would only be a summary offense that would be nothing more then getting a traffic ticket. This is insane. This man must be punished in a way he will not do it again.
A witness saw this Amish man hitting the horse in the face with a whip kicking it in the abdomen and more. That with the over burdened work load killed this horse. A clear sign of intentional abuse!

We as a people need to speak for the ones that cannot speak. This horse cannot speak for himself. Abuse of animals by the Amish has gone on for years largely unpunished, unspoken and unprotested because of their religion. This must stop. We ask that this case not only be fully investigated but that the abuse be punished by the fullest extent of the law. We also ask that this abuser be no longer allowed to own any animal. We also ask this to be investigated by the Federal Bureau of investigation as a Type A offense, " Under the changes, animal cruelty it would be considered a crime against society and a “Type A” offense within the four categories: simple/gross neglect, and intentional abuse and torture.

According to the FBI, the official definition of animal cruelty will be:

Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly taking an action that mistreats or kills any animal without just cause, such as torturing, tormenting, mutilation, maiming, poisoning, or abandonment. Included are instances of duty to provide care, e.g., shelter, food, water, care if sick or injured; transporting or confining an animal in a manner likely to cause injury or death; causing an animal to fight with another; inflicting excessive or repeated unnecessary pain or suffering, e.g., uses objects to beat or injure an animal. "

An animal is a very easy victim. An animal can't pick up a phone and call 911. You must now be this horses voice and the voice of the others that go abused by signing and sharing this petition you can help bring some justice for this horse and perhaps save others from the same fate
