Help save the Godavari River
Rivers play an important role in society as they are used for Transportation, water, water powered clean energy, fishing, bathing, Agricultural purposes such irrigation, and they provide oxygen. Rivers and other bodies of water are dying all over India. While cities are built along riversides government and other organizations are using the river without minding the conditions they are in. The Godavari River is one of these rivers that is being effected.
The Godavari is the second longest river after the Ganga river. It flows through of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh providing water to major cities like Hyderabad and Nashik. The river is 82% polluted by domestic pollution and 18% by industries. This is unacceptable, thousands of farmers are effected by the waters and are forced to find other ways to grow their crops. Along with this, chemicals from other waste has been found in the river causing fisherman there jobs and hurting other people who depend on the waters. These thousands of of farmers and fisherman are payed very little and now that they are losing their jobs it has became even harder to survive
The best to restore the Godavari River to its original condition is to stop leaking chemicals, plastics and other wastes into the water, and start planting more plants and trees across the water so there would be an increase in the wildlife around the area and in a slow but steady process we will fix and restore the river. The first step to doing so is signing the petition and contributing to save the Godavari river.
