On 16/10/2015, seven students of engineering lost their lives while having lunch at Hotel City Kinara, Kurla, West, Mumbai.

The Restaurant was being run without any safety measures and without any permissions.  The licenses were obtained in collusion and connivance with officers of "L" Ward, M.C.G.M. Mumbai. There was no fire fighting system in place and on 16.10.2015, suddenly fire broke out in the cramped mezzanine floor, which was an unauthorised structure.  It had no fire exit and the victims died trapped inside.  The owner of the hotel and his staff, made no attempts to save any person and fled the scene. Eight people died within a matter of minutes. These lives would have been saved, if authorities would have acted in time and shut down the said place.

This is a wake up call for the authorities to ensure compliance of safety measures and shut down the potential safety hazards, in every nook and corner.

The police has not taken any steps to book the corrupt officers of MCGM.

We demand action against all those officers, who permitted the said business to be run without any statutory checks.
