Yesterday, we came to know about a most heinous crime committed in Kerala few days back. A pregnant elephant was fed a pineapple stuffed with fire crackers that resulted in the animal dying a slow and agonizing death. The crackers exploded inside the unfortunate animal's mouth, killing it. The poor elephant died in the Velliyar river near the border of Palakkad and Malappuram districts on May 27th.

Till date, the culprits who committed this most heinous crime are roaming free. This is an absolutely deplorable incident. The only way of preventing repeat of such incident is to bring the offender(s) to the books and ensure he/she is given exemplary punishment as per the laws.

I kindly urge you to please take up this case on priority and ensure that the culprit(s) are punished for this abominable act. I strongly believe that many of my countrymen and indeed people around the world would share my sentiments. I have full trust that the needful will be done to deliver justice to the unfortunate elephant and her unborn child.
