Bring Back PRAVEEN SOOD as Commissioner of Police!!

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Praveen Sood was shunted out of his post on 31/07/2017. The 1986 batch officer has been posted as ADGP logistics and communication, a non-executive post, until further orders.
Sood's exit, which comes within seven months of his appointment is attributed to political compulsions. The officer was made a scapegoat in the off-screen fight between Siddaramaiah and former home minister G Parameshwara. The transferred officers, including Nimbalkar, were personally chosen by Parameshwara. The CM was feeling insecure; he thought Parameshwara might gain a upper hand by using the officers for personal gain, a source said.
"According to the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act 2013, an officer holding an executive posting should have a minimum tenure of one year. The officer cannot be transferred unless there is an administrative exigency or allegations". Sood has not faced any allegations. He was due for a promotion in November. Sources said Sood may not take legal recourse against the transfer since he will be in service till 2024. "I did not ask why when I was appointed commissioner and I will not ask why when I am asked to leave," he said.
Sood is one of the first officers who tried to bridge the gap between citizens and police through people-friendly initiatives and social media. He had initiated innovative schemes including Operation Blackberry, expediting passport verification, Namma 100, Suraksha app, crime & tracking networking system and tech policing. During his stints as DCP (law and order), ACP (traffic), ADGP (computer wing) and police commissioner, Sood tried to curb rowdy activity, nabbed drug peddlers apart from making the recruitment system more transparent and avoiding the need to visit police stations for minor thefts.
This also increased the number of netizens interacting with police through Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp on a daily basis.
We feel cheated and disappointed to learn that Sood has been moved out from his position. It is unjust to people of Bengaluru.
We fervently request and urge the CM to keep Politics aside & reconsider his decision to reinstate Praveen Sood as city Police Commissioner.
