Make it mandatory for all hospitals to declare number of Caesarean deliveries #SafeBirth

This is with reference to petition raised by Mrs. Subarna Ghosh regarding Caesarean deliveries. Same petition is relevant in Bihar state also.
Hence producing excerpt of same petition with updated record relevant to Bihar and requesting our respected Chief Minister and totake necessary action.
Caesarean deliveries have become a business. Private hospitals in India conduct C-section deliveries even when they are not required so that they can make money.
Women are being cut open to deliver babies even though there is no medical reason. They had to undergo C-section because doctors misled and manipulated Them, thus causing a long and painful recovery procedure
In fact, recent studies show that C-sections lead to a higher risk of postpartum depression and lower breastfeeding rate in women and diseases like obesity and diabetes in children.
Despite its adverse effects on maternal and child health, hospitals and doctors are indiscriminately conducting C-sections to make more money.
I wanted to make sure that no other woman is misled. When I looked into the issue, what I found was alarming.
WHO guidelines say that C-section deliveries should only be 10-15% of total deliveries. I was shocked to learn that in my own state of Bihar ,31.35% of all deliveries are C-section births (Year 2016-17:Ref:Times of India-dated June 5-2017), Whereas in government hospitals it is at 1.4% only.
To discourage this trend, women need to be made aware of the C-section rates of different hospitals and maternity homes, so that they can choose their hospitals carefully.
That’s why I, with support of the NGO Birth India, are asking the BiharCM to issue an advisory to all Maharashtra Hospitals:
Make it mandatory for all doctors and hospitals to declare the percentage of Caesarean delivery rates to patients.
Conduct inquiry against those with abnormally high C-section rate.
Frame clear guidelines for conducting Caesarean to safeguard the health and rights of women and children
Smt Maneka Gandhi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development has already strongly supported this campaign at the National level. She called C-section deliveries a commercial racket and has called for their regulation.
The Union Health Ministry is also drafting rules that will direct all private hospitals under the Central Government Health Scheme to disclose their C-section rates.
However most hospitals are regulated by their respective state government, and that is why I am appealing to the Maharashtra CM to take action in his state. He will also set a strong example that can be followed by other states.
It is important that women are made aware of the impact of Caesarean sections, which truly is an emergency recourse and not a routine medical procedure. This is a serious health risk and the Bihar government has to take action NOW!
