Stop our Police being removed from our village

Thames Valley Police are going to take away our local officers from being based in the village, to what I would call yet another bureaucratic move, with more thought for themselves than us the public they are supposed to protect.

They are creating Hubs and this will have major impact on ourselves in the village, let alone our officers.  They are going to base our officers at Kidlington, that is going to have implications on us all.

1.   Longer response times

2.   Officers travelling further to get their kit, then to travel to the village for policing.

3.   Putting PCSO’s in danger.

There will be an investigation hub, a response hub and a neighbourhood problem solving team. All three based at Witney, and then another three based at Kidlington.

Basing officers in the village office means we can all pop in to discuss problems, meet a friendly face we know and trust, and that means feeling able to talk to someone we know.

Not having our officers based in the village also means any trouble or need for urgent attendance, they can be there is minutes.  And they have the power to arrest.

The 2 PCSO’s Helen and Sandra do a fantastic job, are well known and a brilliant help to all, BUT any problems kick off, and they would have to wait for our regular police team to arrive to arrest, which could be 20 minutes away.

if like now they are based in the village, it would be a few minutes,  but now they are to be taken away, they would have to wait for officers to come from Witney, Kidlington, or even further away, meaning instead of minutes, this could be 30 minutes or more if our officers are on a job further away, before help arrived, putting the PCSO’s in danger, and us the public waiting longer for a police response.

We should stop this move now before this takes place in June.  With officers having to travel further to work costing themselves more out of their wages, and NO POLICE based in the village, it is us the people of Eynsham that will lose out.

I would ask everyone in the village to sign the petition asking for the Chief Constable to cancel this move and leave our officers in the village as they are now, for the benefit of the people of Eynsham.
