Let’s let girls freely wear ripped jeans to school, without getting sexualized.

You may ask why we care so much about changing this dress code, and it’s because we want to ensure girls and others that go to any Chicago Public Schools that their body’s aren’t meant to be discriminated against and that their body’s aren’t distracting towards their peers, this could even help our society by letting girls be free and wear what makes them comfortable without feeling like they are going to be sexualized. Expressing themselves and feeling comfortable is what is most important to us! Multiple girls of all ages have been dress coded at Edward E.Sadlowski Elementary and other CPS schools, especially girls who are going through puberty and that are developing. When boys wear ripped jeans they brush it off, but when young girls wear ripped jeans it is inappropriate and disgusting. Most importantly none of the staff are doing anything to change this dress code policy. Me a 7th grader and a young girl has been told that me showing my knees was inappropriate because I was showing “to much skin” and that “it will distract boys”, this happened in 4th grade! And it’s disgusting, even my peers have been dress coded. And so we need to make a change in our society for young girls and women. You can make a change for us young girls, let us change this dress code policy with your help with signing this petition. Let’s put an end to this discrimination towards young girls!
