Cancel finals for all Kennedy High School students.
Cancel finals for all Kennedy High School students.
Given the current state of the school year, and all of the uncertainty students have faced throughout the pandemic as a whole, there should be no reason for Final Exams. The new variant of COVID-19, the Omicron variant, only seems to be infecting individuals at a greater rate each passing day. Going into the first week of January, we are left with the possibility of going remote yet again, and students are potentially going to be presented with the challenges that hindered many last school year. These challenges not only include technological disadvantages and inability to access virtual class, but the challenge of learning in a remote setting could arise once again. Final Exams are set to be held beginning on January 24th. If CPS were to go remote this Wednesday, January 5th, we would return to class on January 19th. This would give us 3 in-school days of prep before the finals, which is arguably not enough for the majority of students. Therefore, canceling Final Exams school-wide would benefit students the most, as a student's grade is more likely to be affected negatively from their scores on Final Exams.
