BRING BACK ROLLER HOCKEY TO CHICAGO.
Greetings Fellow Players,
I started working at NAB Sports when I was 15 years old. That incredible summer the North Avenue Beach Roller Hockey Rink became my second home. I loved stickhandling, shooting, rat hockey, league games, tournaments, and making so many new friends. It was my perfect escape from the harshness of my parent’s divorce. I found complete serenity combining my two favorite things in the world, hockey and summer in Chicago. I would spend countless hours everyday at the rink. It was my Hockey Heaven.
As of summer 2014, I lost my second home, and that escape from whatever was weighing on my mind. With no place to play, I had a huge void in my heart. My summer has been missing a vital piece without the rink. I vowed to myself we would play again.
Since then, we have been driven to bring back roller hockey to the City of Chicago. Now we are pleased to announce we are hopefully trading in the beach for Grant Park and the breathtaking view of the Chicago skyline. This location will be truly unique, and the only one of its kind in the world.
We will be playing roller hockey and dodgeball on the exact same rink and surface as North Ave Beach. We will have hockey for everyone!
We need the support from the World Hockey Community. We want to hear your stories of what hockey, and the rink means to you. It could be a few lines, a few paragraphs, or a few pages. We are going to compile all of our stories, memories, pictures, and reasons we want and deserve to play then forward them along with this petition to the Chicago Park District and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
