Pule Mangonyane started this petition to CHESS COMMUNITY IN SOUTH AFRICA

Over the last few months the fighting at Chess SA has intensified. Initially we as players were told that the problems of the governance structures will not us. However, the situation has.

There is general uncertainty as to who are the office bearers and this confusion is affecting the organizing and rating of tournaments. Chess is a job to some chess players and coaches. National, continental and global events give these individuals additional income either through bonuses or direct remunerations based either on qualification or attendance of themselves or their students. This is hampered by this war. This situation is becoming even worse because parents are caught between warring factions and do not know which events to send their children to and if the events are 'legitimate' according to whichever faction.

Chess should be on TV, radio and social media for all the good news. This negativity is killing chess especially at grassroots level.

FIDE (International Federation) is aware of the problem, however they do not see it as a crisis or that it demands priority. However, following the failure of SASCOC and the Department of Sports, ACC (African Chess Confederation) is willing to mediate. .

ACC through their President, have requested that SA Chess Community (individual players, parents, regional and provincial organizers, etc) to petition the confederation to request this mediation.

We all want a properly functioning Federation called Chess SA!
