Stop the closure of our Sure start childrens centres
Stop the closures of the children's centres which are the life lines in our community for families.
More than £10bn has been invested in Sure Start children’s centres to create a new “public service” for children and families, comprising more than 3,000 centres providing services and support within their communities. Since they were established they have been credited with changing the face of children and family services, identifying disadvantaged children and families and providing targeted support. The centres have also seen different agencies – dealing with health, education, family support and specialist support – work together.
Can the Government or council work with the local community to understand the needs and restructure the service provision to be more cost effective and not leave a large network of mums (voters) and childcarers (voters) and future voters without the provision?
The UK has only just started to build a great foundation for families to utilise. A bridge between the NHS and parents, a place to get support, advice and build communities.
Other European countries are already a step ahead with being more family focused don't shut our childrens centres! Please look at other ways to reduce costs such as utilising churches, village halls, public house function rooms etc or asking for volunteers within the community.
Please stand up and fight for our childrens centres to STAY. This is affecting not only Cheshire centres but other parts of the country such as London. Let's make a stand!
