Lockers for Cherokee Heights Middle School Students

Lockers for Cherokee Heights Middle School Students
Cherokee Heights Middle School has not permitted students to use lockers this school year.
Due to this rule, students have to carry everything they bring to school around with them to each period, which creates many unnecessary problems.
For example, when it is rainy, snowy, or cold outside, students must carry umbrellas, wet coats, dirty boots, and more. With winter approaching, students will have to carry around even more heavy and wet gear from class to class. Students already have more materials than they can fit in their backpacks, which is difficult physically on top of being stressful. Many students have lost items during classes and outside at recess and lunch, since we have to either bring everything outside or go back to our previous classes to get our materials before going to the next period.
Other MMSD elementary, middle and high schools have shown that students can safely use lockers without any related Covid-19 outbreaks.
Students deserve a space to securely store their materials. Please sign this petition and share it with CHMS students, guardians and community members if you believe Cherokee Heights students should be allowed to use lockers this year.
