Hello,

My name is Ayah and I'm a Muslim girl that goes to one of the schools in Cherokee County, Georgia.

Islam is one of the biggest religions in the world, with over 1.9 billion people in it. But, we haven't been getting the respect we needed.

Holidays like Christmas, get a week off, and leave everyone to celebrate the holiday. However, Eid is still considered a school day, which leaves worries for many students.

I, for one, am a 13-year old that goes to school everyday of the week. But, Eid falls on a school day, which I have to take a day off. The amount of school work you could miss in school, would be overwhelming. Muslims should just have a day off from school as a whole, to avoid missing tests and big assignments.

So, why is Eid so important enough to be considered a big holiday? Because it is a day where you celebrate fasting the whole month and it marks the end of Ramadan.

So please, even you are non-muslim, it would still be great to take a day off from school for one day. I would appreciate it.

Thank you!
