Pet Resort / Kennel Planned near Arbor View (40 dogs!)

A request for Special Permit has been submitted to the Cherokee County Planning and Land Use Department for 504 S. Holly Springs Rd, Woodstock, GA by Marilyn & Scott Irvin. The proposal is to renovate an existing 3500 square foot horse barn into a "pet resort" with the capacity to board approximately 40 dogs and 6-8 cats.

The Problem:
In the past, horses staying on that property could be heard easily from many areas within Arbor View. Barking dogs are louder than horses (obviously), and so this would be a nuisance, adversely affecting our quality of life as well as resale value. In short, this would be a detriment to our community. The occasional barking dog is one thing; 40 barking dogs is another.

This isn't about dogs, which many of us own; this is about having up to 40 dogs kenneled near our homes. The trees don't keep some of us on Parkside Dr. from hearing the horses, so it won't stop the sound of dogs barking (and it will be worse during fall and winter months).

Please add your voice to this petition and let Cherokee County know Arbor View opposes this special permit request...
