When both private and public spending is taken into account, the U.S. spends more per person on health care than any other country in the world, yet we get less care than people in many other countries with over 28 million people uninsured under our current healthcare system.

Medicare-for-all, also known as 'single-payer health insurance', is a proposed system in which a single public or quasi-public agency organizes health care financing. Under this system, all Americans would be covered for all medically necessary services, including doctor, hospital, preventive, long-term care, mental health, reproductive health care, dental, vision, prescription drug and medical supply costs. Patients would regain free choice of doctor and hospital, and doctors would regain autonomy over patient care.  Single-payer healthcare would also save money by slashing wasteful bureaucracy and adopting proven-effective cost controls like fee schedules, global budgets for hospitals, and negotiating drug prices with pharmaceutical companies.

There is currently a bill titled HR 676 'Expanded & Improved Medicare For All Act' in the House of Representatives which would create a single-payer Medicare-for-all system.  Democratic Congresswoman Cheri Bustos of the 17th Congressional District of Illinois has not yet cosponsored HR 676.  We ask her to co-sponsor HR 676 and support single-payer healthcare.  Please sign this petition, as well as call Congresswoman Cheri Bustos' office at (309) 786-3406 and ask her to support HR 676 'Expanded & Improved Medicare For All Act'.
