Air travel is a potential risk and can spread COVID-19 giving that community spread has already taken place in US and several other countries. This is especially concerning because many COVID-19 carriers do not show any symptoms and US only provides very limited testing so far with hundreads to thousands unknown infected people. The American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring National Meeting with several thousand attendees from all over the world is a huge risk to meeting attendees who may well get infected during travel by unknown COVID-19 carriers.  A North Carolina resident who recently got infected in Seattle without knowing himself may have infected many people who took the same flights with him back to North Carolina.  The ACS Spring Meeting can also be a great rick to the residents of the host city of Pheiladelphia, especially those service employees. Missing one meeting does not have much a negative scientific impact to the ACS community.  Weigh the risks vs benefits, I urge ACS to cancell the meeting.  American Physical Society has already cancelled its spring annual meeting this week.  ACS should do the same.
