Chelsea High School is located at 299 Everett Avenue, Chelsea, MA. Our school is filled with many hard working students striving nothing but the best for their immigrant families. Over the course of twelve years, the class of 2020 has strived for the best and continue to do so. We have dealt with the sewer flies situation our freshmen year, so our school closing is no stranger to us!

This pandemic has affected the lives of many people in the world, especially our small cultured city, Chelsea. Everyday, hundreds of immigrants get infected to this virus and we haven’t flattened the curve whatsoever. It has affected every single one of our lives, from those who have not been in contact with the virus to those who have. Lives are continuously fighting left and right. 

The Chelsea Public Schools have been working on having a Virtual Graduation for the seniors of Chelsea High, and quite frankly, we DO NOT want that. Our seniors have worked tremendously hard to get into their dream colleges and get many scholarships. We do understand the health of others is very important and social distance is something we all been practicing, so we wanted to propose something to the Chelsea Public Schools. We, the seniors of Chelsea High, do NOT want to graduate virtually. This petition is a form of asking the staff, the admin, and the city of  Chelsea that we want other options or ideas to graduate, but virtual is not one. 

Our opinions were NOT asked if we wanted a virtual graduation or not, we did NOT have a say on what should we do for OUR graduation. this decision was based on the Chelsea Public Schools, no seniors involved.

There has been many requests on postponing the graduation until Massachusetts has been able to flatten the curve even more so we could go back to our normal lives. Other requests/ideas/options should be listened and heard, but we simply ask that virtual graduation can NOT happen. 

We ask all Seniors, Students of Chelsea High, Adults, Family, Friends, Teachers, anyone to please sign this petition in order for the Chelsea Public Schools to listen to our ideas and we can celebrate our graduation rather than doing in virtually!
