This petition is an objection from local residents of Brook Road, Selwood Road and Wansford Close against the proposal by Chelmsford council to introduce single yellow lines on the south side of Brook Road.

These roads are relatively quiet and family friendly. Adding parking restrictions along Brook Road between 8am and 5pm will greatly inconvenience us as residents, but also our visiting family, friends and home help.

The few cars that are parked along Brook Road naturally control the speed of drivers that use Brook Road to cut-off a busy section of London Road. The parked cars actually enhance road safety.

If single yellow lines are introduced, any irresponsible drivers will have a clear run along one side of the road. Not ideal for those walking small people to and from St Peter's school twice a day.

The restrictions will also inconvenience residents on the north side of Brook Road as residents will have no choice but to park in front of their properties or use Selwood Road and Wansford Close as an alternative.

Brook Road does not attract commuter parking, and as hybrid working becomes the new normal, we are not under threat from non-resident parking in Brook Road either.
