FREE UNIFORMS FOR STUDENTS ON FREE SCHOOL MEALS

We need change. Parents from low income families are struggling to afford basic necessities and we need this to stop. Schools say that uniform is to stop the potential bullying and harassment however if you are unable to afford to wear nice clothing then buying uniform, that can cost a week of wage, would also be financially damaging.

Every year when children are sent to new schools and new beginnings they are all required to pay for one thing, school uniforms. Uniform is both mandatory and expensive, even though it does not make school life simpler nor does it provide any sort of academic development. This is clearly evident when schools announce non-school uniform day as a sort of treat or special occasion which leads to children being excited for something as basic as wanting to wear normal clothes creates a sense of sympathy for the children.

According to our studies more than 45% of students spend more than £100.00 on uniforms each year. Additional studies show that more than 18% of students spend more than £200.00 on uniform per year.
