Time For A Change
After following and supporting the Chartiers-Houston Senior and Junior High football programs for the past 12 seasons the facts and results support our petition for change.
Results of 2005-2016 Varsity Football(2017 season excluded)
Data compiled from historical WPIAL records (wpial.org)
Record 60 wins 54 Losses
Points For 2472/ Points Allowed 2472
6/12 seasons were .500 or below w/l average
2/12 seasons with more than 6 wins
9 playoff appearances with 1 being the higher seed and 0 playoff wins
Playoffs Points for 34/Points allowed 156
* Playoff appearances is not a lofty goal for HS football teams since the WPIAL adopted taking 4 teams from the conference in 1998. We historically put 6-4, 5-5, and 4-6 teams in the playoffs. Prior to this change only the top 2 teams in the conference made the playoffs. A 7-3 team prior to '98 had virtually no chance of making the playoffs....
This data suggests that our student athletes are not given the opportunity to compete at a higher level. Expectations from the players, parents, tax payers and community are not being met. A football program is something that takes year round commitment and it starts with the leader of the program. Our Junior High program, which the WPIAL does not keep statistics on, is suffering year after year. The lack of football knowledge, leadership and coaching skills at the Junior High level, results in our student athletes accepting a culture of failure. This is a very important transition time as the athletes are experiencing physical changes in their bodies and maturity, yet the fundamentals of the game are not being taught or practiced. This results in a loss of players every year.
CH Football has become stagnant under the current administration. The excitement of the game, the fans, the cheerleaders and community has disappeared. The culture of mediocrity has made its way through this program. The parents of the football program, marching band, cheerleaders, tax payers, youth football organization/coaches and community members have contributed to and supported many athletic improvements over the past decade:
(Information collected from HHSDR Architects)
· Stadium Turf, Track & Paving: $1,262,900
· Stadium Visitor Bleachers: $224,400
· Athletic Center: $5,690,000
· Total = $7,177,300
With this investment, this petition is to request and EXPECT CHANGE to the current coaching staff at both the Varsity and Junior High football programs. The parents, fans, community, and most importantly the players deserve to have a coaching staff that strives for excellence and achieves success. Give Chartiers Houston the chance to bring back the pride in Buccaneer football!
