I love watching NFL football, and I'm so excited that the season has started!

I just saw some disturbing news that says the NFL Foundation has sponsored "deadly sports-injury experiments on dogs, mice, rats, and other animals at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California–Los Angeles, the University of Notre Dame, and other schools and private laboratories."

Apparently the NFL Foundation has funded deadly experiments where dogs have been given painful knee injuries. There have also been experiments where weights were slammed into rats' heads and mice were given traumatic brain injuries. Not only is this cruel, but it seems like that's not helping any players who continue to have serious health problems no matter what the recent $765 million settlement tries to keep from the public.

Now there's reportedly $10 million set aside for "research and education." I'm glad about that because I do not want to see any players injured, however the solution must come from effective science, not bashing in the heads of rats and mice or detroying dogs' knees.

There are so many modern ways of helping players and the NFL seek solutions instead of horrifying animal tests. I read this info on PETA's website, but believe it's also important for fans like me to speak up. Please sign to ask the NFL to commit to stop funding animal tests so that people and animals are treated humanely.

Letter to
Charlotte Jones Anderson Chair, NFL Foundation
NFL Foundation Commissioner Roger Goodell
Stop funding horrifying animal tests.

With $10 million, you have the choice to fund a lot of painful animal testing or find cutting-edge solutions to save players' lives. I hope you will choose the compassionate and responsible option.
