Rezoning Petition 2020-049 iseeks to change 156 acres between Moores Chapel Rd and Sam Wilson Road from Residential to Industrial. It is one of many similar that would open the floodgates to our region being nothing more than an industrial wasteland. We deserve smart, creative planning and development in our region!

For details on 2020-049 visit:

This change goes against the current Land Use Plan for this area as Single Family Residences - a plan we all trusted to be followed by City Council.

This change would result in over 2400 daily trips by commercial trucks (including 18 wheelers) with entrances to the huge facility on both Moores Chapel Road and Sam Wilson. Trucks have >30% more noise than cars.

Also, Industrial in this area - designated as a Lake Wylie Critical Area - would threaten the water quality of streams including the Catawba River. Having industrial in the middle of residences would greatly impact property values. There are places in our rural neighborhood that are already designated as Industrial. We understand that, but we do not need more.

We all cannot afford this Industrial rezoning and its more traffic, more noise, lost property value, and environmental impact.

Please let your voice be heard that Industrial does not belong in this part of our community! Industrial is important for jobs, but should be limited to infilling in areas already affected.

Voices matter in City Council votes. We can stop this! The more voices the stronger we are.
