Remove MA's only Confederate Memorial in Solidarity with the Victims of Charlottesville

This petition had 176 supporters

In honor of the recent victims in Charlottesville, VA, in particular Heather Heyer, along with the hundreds of millions of other historical casualties (from the transatlantic African slaves and Native Americans to the Union soldiers to the martyrs of the Civil Rights & American Indian Movement to the contemporary victims of the police brutality and BLM activists) who've died explicitly at the hands and ideologies of white supremacy, we are DEMANDING justice!

Hence, the signers of this petition are requesting the immediate removal of Massachusetts' only Confederate memorial located on Georges Island.

White supremacist memorabilia & memorials (including seals & mottos – both present on the memorial on Georges Island) as well as tokens of their futile attempts to revise history (i.e. rebranding the American Civil War as "The War Between the States" as opposed to "The War Against Slavery") have NO place in the state of Massachusetts.
