Massachusetts has a lot of laws in place that make it feel like people can't protect themselves or prove anything in harmful situations. It is legal to call the police while someone is in the process of threatening you but it is not legal to record audio or video to prove that someone has been threatening you or even harming you. It often feels like young adults are not taken seriously on abuse and harassment complaints and it feels like there isn't much that can be done about it. It is not easy to get permission to record someone saying they want to hurt you because no one is going to admit to something like that when they know they are being recorded. This law makes it feel like there is a lack of things someone is able to do in complicated situations. Living in Massachusetts is starting to feel unsafe because of the lack of things we can do to protect ourselves without getting into legal trouble.
