100% correct the technology exists to eliminate the stink. After reviewing the EPA TRI reports years ago I was shocked at what the mill has been putting in our air and water.

I work near the paper mill and there are days when even inside the office I feel sick and/or nostrils burning from the paper mill fumes. Even when out at the Costco in north Mt Pleasant I can occasionally smell the paper mill, so the fumes can carry on the wind for many miles. The paper mill smell is embarrassing when we have visitors come in from out of town. If the paper mill relocated or consolidated with another paper mill in less densely populated area, I’m sure the community could (relatively quickly) have some sort of attraction or business redevelop that land to provide both jobs and more community access to the river front.

It’s sad that knowing there are relatively cheap technologies available to scrub exhaust gases already for many years, we need to sign a petition for doing that in one of the most developed and rich countries in the world...

I dislike the smell and wonder if it’s dangerous to breath.
