We all know it is hard to attend board meetings when they take place in the middle of the day or run late into the evening. We need the board to know that our absence at meetings does not mean we are in agreement with their recommendations / proposals for changes to our school. By co-signing this petition, we can show the Board that the Memminger family is paying attention and we want our collective voice heard.  

On December 16th, the CCSD School Board will vote on whether or not to make Memminger a county-wide IB magnet school and phase in a new “advanced academic program” (AAP) next year at Memminger, beginning with rising Kindergarten students. As the proposal is currently written, this program will run from K-2. Once students reach 3rd grade, they will be able to test for Buist or remain at Memminger for grades 3-5. All classes across all grade levels will include students in the AAP as well as students who are not.

In order for this new program to be successful, Memminger MUST:

Maintain our neighborhood zone!
Maintain our CD program!
Keep our amazing teachers!
Maintain our social emotional learning curriculum!
Demand NO outside partnership to run Memminger!
Demand the AAP run through 5th grade instead of 2nd!
Demand the Board explain to us what positive changes will be made for our current students as well as students who do not test into the AAP!
Demand the Board hire a strong principal who will stand up for us as a school and community! 
Receive a seat at the table to discuss future changes!

STOP: Assuming we agree with their weekly proposals to make sweeping changes to Memminger.

START: Engaging the Memminger family and taking our input into account.
