Since the Covid-19 Pandemic began it has taken over many lives, aside from the actual lives it took. The most vulnerable have been the elderly and those with severe chronic illnesses. But, with the pandemic also came a flood of individuals financially exploiting the vulnerable. Sadly, the most vulnerable are the elderly. Those who once took care of us, who are highly neglected by this society. As an APS worker, I have seen firsthand how many elderly are financially exploited. Being taken advantage of due to their age, mental illness, and fear of being abandoned. Thankfully in March 2021, H.R.2265 - Financial Exploitation Prevention Act of 2021 was introduced and passed by the House to Senate. An act that will help prevent financial exploitation of the elderly making sure they're safe from individuals looking to harm them. This Act if turned into a Bill can be life-changing to the elderly as well as to individuals who are vulnerable due to mental illness and disabilities. Let's Help the senate make its decision with this Act. Let's make this Act a Bill. Help take care of the ones who cared for us. Stand up for those who can't stand for themselves. Disabled individuals, as well as elderly individuals, deserve to live in a world where they're safe and that includes monetary.
