kids being able to go to the toilet in lessons

The issue we are discussing, is the  new rule that our school has recently established which states that students are not able to use the toilet facilities during lessons, without having a medical card. Of course we understand that there are reasons why this rule has suddenly been put into place and we are not questioning their relevance. However, we would like you to understand and empathise the issue we have. There are numerous reasons why this rule is the not entirely fair. For example, females who are going through their menstrual cycle are unable to use the facilities in order to sort out any issues they may be having. However we are not saying that this rule only affects female students as we know it affects both genders equally as there have been some incidents in which boys have been unable to conduct themselves properly when needing to urinate. We fully appreciate that it is not ideal for students to miss lesson time but very few students will be able to concentrate and produce work that is to the best of their ability when needing to use the toilet. We are not requesting that the rule must be completely abolished but we would just like some freedom to use the facilities in an emergency. Thank you for considering our view on this important issue.
