CHARIHO teachers work in 4 commended schools and 2 leading schools. They are also leading the way on education reform in Rhode Island. So why is the school committee stalling on a new contract and breaking the law by not honoring salary steps and negotiated stipends? It just does not add up!
Honor the contract and pay teachers what they have earned!
CHARIHO teachers work in 4 commended schools and 2 leading schools. They are also leading the way on education reform in Rhode Island. That's why it doesn't add up that the CHARIHO School Committee is playing games in contract negotiations by voting to not compensate teachers for legally required step increases and stipends for advanced degrees and longevity. Regardless of how negotiations are going, as a public official it is your obligation to follow the contract and abide by the law.
Politics and personal agendas shouldn't play a part in education in Rhode Island. As a School Committee member, please do what you can to resolve this dispute as quickly as possibly and show our teachers the respect they deserve.
