Channel 7 defend comments?
Apr 27, 2015 — Good morning supporters,
I am very sad to see Channel 7's response to the comment made and how have refused to acknowledge that the comment has been received as racially offensive to many and that the comment at bare minimum lacked professionalism and should not have been said, instead Channel 7 has supported the comments. It can be said that this response gives somewhat of an insight into the true culture within the Channel 7 / Seven West Media group and how they feel about issues of racism and the concerns of people of different races. This response is appalling. I can only imagine such poor public relations when dealing with such public relations may be a contribution to the 8.4% drop in profit noted from Seven West Media from their last period. In light of all of this, I would urge all supporters to immediately chose a network and morning show that condemns racism rather than harbours it and there are many other options. It would seem that Channel 7 / Seven West Media do not react out of ethical reasoning and maybe a further dip in their breakfast show ratings may urge them to react, I will be watching the stats. To any current and potential investors in Seven West Media, promised a network that will 'deliver to the biggest audiences' I would urge you to consider if the cultural values of this company mirror your own and if the aura of racism shown on the show will rub off on the view of the products and services you advertise. Please think about it.
The next stage from here is I have lodged a complaint with free tv Australia to intervene, I will be looking to review what Seven West Media's legal obligations are in regard to racial discrimination legislation and what their workplace policies are in regard to anti-discrimnation and how issues are meant to treated. I have been in contact with many global news groups who will likely give some further international coverage, please continue to spread the word. I will keep you all updated on the progress. Thank you all for your continued support and your bravery on coming forward to condemn this racist behaviour.
