Why this petition matters

Hey everyone

So I have previously emailed and spoken with our local council (Sommerset). After having inspected the parks, the council has come back with the response of "we cannot afford to change the bark base over to the rubber softfall base"

Personally I find this very disappointing. Our little towns do not have much at all, so fixing a couple of local parks to be safe for the kids would give our kids something to do out here. Currently many parents refuse to let their children play at the park. Understandably of course, the bark is a health Hazzard and has caused too many iniury's over time.

Snakes, spiders and ants all LOVE to burrow/nest in shallow loose leaf/dirt, so the park base is very dangerous. It is also known to breaking skin and causing stitches to be needed. Drugs and related object are known to be hiding beneath the bark also, left over from a user the night before. There have been at least 5 times I personally have cleaned up broken glass or drug related utensils to allow my kids to play safely.

Numbers speak, so I am hopeful that with the numbers behind this - something will be done - sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your time and I appreciate your support in this issue.
