The rules at SRM University as I understand are meant for Girl's safety but at the same time they are a setback for us. The hostel in-time for girls is 7 p.m. The classes on a normal day end at 5-5.30 p.m leaving us with barely any time to ultilise the resources of library as we cannot issue all the books and neither is there a peaceful enivornment like that to do group study and gain knowledge by interacting with our fellow students. 

Meanwhile the hostel in-time for boys is 9 p.m,i.e. 2 hours more than us, boys are permitted to be in the library till 12 midnight. That is 5 hours more that what girls are allowed and that feels unfair.

While I understand that these rules are for the safety of girls, I think there can be a fairer method to implement this. I believe for the girls library timing can be till 10 p.m on a day and the boys can have their late library timings on the next day, i.e on alternate days late library timings for girls and boys. This ensures saftey while also ensuring equality.  

I would like to request the higher authorities, Mr. Dean for his attention to this matter. It would be a huge help in studies and would avoid drawbacks or unfair disadvantages for girls.
