Change unfair Food Use-By Date Rules

Change unfair Food Use-By Date Rules
Why this petition matters
Just now, charities and food banks can get donations of food from supermarkets and shops. This food is then given out for free to people in need in the community.
The problem is that the charities usually get the food late in the day when the Use-By Date on the food is just about to expire. Current rules mean that this food must be thrown out into landfill before it is able to be given to people in need.
We know that Use-By Dates are important and protect people's health however the current rules mean that there is no scope to give away food that is just about to be thrown out. We want to change the rules so that the last day that supermarkets can sell items with a Use-By Date is the day before. This will mean that the last day can be used by supermarkets and charities to give away this food for free.
This change will mean that millions of people in the UK can get perfectly good food for free and, at the same time, save millions of tonnes of food going to Landfill.
Please SIGN and SHARE our petition so that politicians can change these rules as soon as possible.
