Change to Disability Parking

I would like to see an overhaul of the Disability Parking Permit Scheme.

For far too long people have received Disability Parking Permits when they don't actually need them.Too many people have been using the DPP incorrectly and abusing the permits that aren't theirs. The DPP should be refined and made more easily recognisable and not handed out to those who do not need them.

The DPP should be split into 3 colours.

1)Blue - This is for those who require a wheelchair to get around .

2) Green -This is for those who have a disability and need to be close to an entry / exit point.

3) Yellow - This is for those who would normally receive the 'X2' permit which allows for parking for twice the length of time.

Seniors don't need the DPP just because they are old.

I would also like to see the DPP have a place holder for a photographic ID card.

Instead of being handled by local councils there could be a dedicated section of the state roads authority (e.g. VicRoads) that handles and constantly monitors the DPP
usage.
