Why this petition matters

Started by Bella Baljkas

First off what do we want to be changed? We would like for the dress code to be adjusted to accommodate the fact that we live in California where it can get to the 100s and that the only people the dress code effect are women. are common things that get dress coded? Common things you’ll see are no bare midriffs, no strapless tops, nor halter tops, and no tube tops. And while yes gender shouldn’t affect what can or can’t be worn by a person, it is common fact that these are garments predominantly worn by feminine presenting people. Other things you can find in dress codes are undergarments showing and lack of undergarments which hypothetically could apply to all genders but the majority of dress codes for this are female. Around school, you can see men sagging their pants showing their boxers, and not getting dress codes or even a second glance for this. We’ve made a google form to collect data to support this thought and will be updating it as we get information.
