This petition is to change the St. Catherine of Genoa Parish bell to a on the hour ringing schedule. The church bell goes off every 15 minutes from 7am to 10pm on most days. That’s 60 times a day that this bell goes off. Around 1,800 times a month I’m forced to listen to this wretched bell chime. I recently moved to Belmont street and this church bell is driving me clinically insane. I also record music and it is extremely difficult to only be able to work in 15 minute intervals to avoid the church bell in the audio. It makes absolutely no sense for the church bell to go off every 15 minutes. People have watches, phones, and clocks. Literally no one needs this bell to go off on this schedule. I understand and respect the bell is a tradition of the church. But I personally feel changing the bell to a once on the hour schedule still upholds this tradition. It is frankly absurd for it to ring 60 times a day. Please sign this petition if this bell is also a disturbance for you or if you empathize with me being tortured by this bell 60 times a day.
