This year cut off marks in NEET was 117 out of 720 (16%) and for JEE wss 55 out of 360 (15%) due to faulty percentile system of 50th percentile cut off values. Hence substandard candidates would get admission into private medical colleges by paying heavy fee.

Before 2015 the cut off qualifying marks was 50% which was deliberately changed to 50th percentile system to lower the cut off marks. Such a lower cut off (16%) pass marks are going to severely affect the society in future when substandard candidates would take admission into MBBS after paying huge money, which can be restricted by changing the cut off to 50% marks from current percentile system.
