Why this petition matters

A flag tends to symbolize a city and represents different aspects of our city. As a high school student who has lived in this city since he was 4, I believe we Pleasantonians deserve a flag more than just the seal on a boring white backdrop. I have designed a flag with the goal of representing our city, what it stands for, and who we as residents are using elements of our seal. The dark green with a slight blue hue is in relation to our city's colors along with black and white make a perfect backdrop. The oak tree with its roots wrapped around a book represents our city's tree similar to the ones on the seal and represents our slogan, "City of Planned Progress." The book represents the planning and development and the tree is for growth and progress. Lastly, the white star in the corner is a tribute to the California flag and the great state we live in, just how the Californian flag's star represents a star in the American flag and our great nation. All put together, the flag of Pleasanton is ready to represent our great city.
