Change the offensive branding of Kempsville High School
At Kempsville High School home to the Chiefs and "Chief Pride", several of the logos and the crest have not only an offensive and deeply racist portrayal of a Native American man but several other items that are meant to portray the indigenous people native to Virginia. Native Americans are not mascots for high schools to steal their culture and use for fun, they are people with unique cultures that deserve respect but yet in 2022 they are still having to put up with racist imagery against them. Several states have banned the use of Native American and Indigenous people as mascots, and professional sports teams around the country have changed their mascots if the Washington Football team and the Cleveland Guardians changed their offensive mascots and names against natives why shouldn't a high school be held to the same standards?
