The businesses in Nautical Village and community are requesting viable solutions to address the newly implemented parking fees along Liverpool Road and surrounding neighborhood. These are businesses that enhance the vibrance of the waterfront experience for residents and visitors alike. 

Businesses rely on summer visitors every day from all areas in the GTA who need street parking. Customers should be allowed to come and go freely; not be charged an hour ($5) to drop off a document, enjoy a spa treatment, coffee, or ice cream. This first month with parking charges in effect has seen a drastic drop of patrons. Any longer could mean the end of many once healthy businesses.

Weekend visitors who choose to stay all day should be charged by the hour. Business owners, staff and their customers should not fall under the same rule to control weekend waterfront traffic, whether they are Pickering residents or not. 

ONE RULE DOES NOT FIT ALL! 

A validated ticket by the business they patronize is one method to differentiate between the types of visitors. There may be many other solutions if we the Nautical Village business owners, residents and Pickering City council can work together to make a change that is fair to everyone. Fairness to the businesses and our customers is the only way we will survive!
