Why this petition matters

Started by Lynsey Poulton

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 you must report any collision with CERTAIN types of animals. This includes, dogs, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys and mules. You do not have to report if it involves a cat.

On the night of 14/07/22 I witnessed a young cat fight for its life in the middle of a road after being hit by someone driving a vehicle with no respect or morals whatsoever. I turned my car around when it was safe to do so and went back to find this cat, unfortunately I was too late and this gorgeous baby had passed away. Not one other car stopped In this time, lorries wouldn’t even slow down to allow me to stand in the road longer than a minute. If only these laws would change and it was law to pull over to help ALL animals, only then could this story have been different. There’s a poor family out there grieving for the loss of their fur baby at fault of some driver who had no respect and clearly no time to try and put right what they did wrong.

Please help me change these laws. Let’s save more cats lives.
