CHANGE THE LAW: ACID ATTACKS should be classified as attempted murder.

Acid attacks are becoming far more common. It is heartbreaking to see so many innocent people and children being targeted for no reason.
Currently, acid attack are charged as grevious bodily harm, where as knife attacks are charged as murder.
The victims of acid attacks suffer life changing injuries. They are scarred for the rest of their lives. Many of them become depressed unable to face the world, even their loved ones.
WHAT LIFE DO THE VICTIMS HAVE LEFT??
Resham Khan was recently attacked with acid while travelling in the car with her cousin. The life changing injuries have broken her confidence. Her face, her body are not the same anymore.
How can this not be equal to attempted murder??
Resham and her cousin may have survived the acid attack, but what kind of life will they have to face. The physical scars may be covered by skin grafts, but the physical pain, fear and anxiety that they were caused will always be with them.
Why should those that cause such attacks get away lightly!!
In order to clamp down on these attacks I strongly believe that reclassification of acid attacks to a more severe charge of murder/attempted murder is vital.
We are hoping that this reclassification will minimise the attacks, and make our community feel safer.
