The J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain by the Country Club Plaza is Kansas City's most photographed of all its fountains. J.C. Nichols was a systemic racist, and despite my pride in the Country Club Plaza, the name connected to this fountain still serves as a bridge to a darker time in this city's history.

Buck O'Neil, on the other hand, is about as good of a man as this city has ever seen. Buck was a player in the Negro Leagues before becoming the first African American coach in the Major Leagues. Mr. O'Neil led the efforts to bring the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to Kansas City.

Let's get this done!
