Today on august 16th 2022 the staff at Riverview high school in riverview Florida held 4 assemblies 1 for each grade level (9-12). In these assemblies students were told there was a new no tolerance policy regarding hats and head coverings, except for religious reasons. Personally I feel as a student and a citizen my first amendment rights to freedom of speech are being violated as I have had my hat, my personal belonging that I personally payed for taken from me. I feel it is unfair for students to be punished and having their personal belongings taken from them for wearing what makes them comfortable and for expressing themselves where it isn’t distracting
